My Etsy journey

I have been a maker for years, lost count how long.

I started an Etsy store in 2009, with zero knowledge. I just chose a name for my shop added items and hoped for the best.

Well as you may know it’s not that simple and really nothing came of it. I tried learning as much as I could with the free content I could find, but really my time was invested in reading and nothing much else was happening.

As an artist, maker, you start second guessing yourself and think you need to find something else.

Insert attempting ten million different crafts and just winging it. I’ll let you in on a secret, it doesn’t work.

I got completely discouraged, but really never gave up. I tried my hand at so many différents handmade crafts, I can teach you pretty much anything. (Sigh)…

It took a while to know what I wanted out of my business and how big of a product I wanted to supply and so many more factors.

Well my creative journey sent me to jewelry making. I took classes that definitely helped.

As I got in a great roll of working my biz and getting everything in order, I returned to work. Full time, overtime, just crazy hours that it all went down the drain.

As you know I don’t give up, so I’m back in the game. I’m back on Etsy even though I have a love hate relationship from past hardships.

This time I decided that I needed all the knowledge I can get. I’m taking an Etsy course and implementing everything.

I have to say that this time, I decided to enjoy every process and the feeling is completely different. Dang it, I am dedicated to get this Etsy thing to work.

I know it will take time, I’m trusting the journey this time.

I’ll keep you updated. Wish me luck, I know it’s not luck that will help, but hey it can’t hurt.

It’s not a journey for everyone, it’s not an easy process, it’s lots of work and crazy hours. There is so much to handmade you need to factor in.

One thing I can tell you, do not look at what others do price wise or what works for them, you are you, do what works for you. Get it girl!

  1. I had an Etsy shop years ago and only sold a few things. Their fees made it too expensive for me to stay with them without selling a lot. I finally started my own WooCommerce shop but it’s so much to learn! I’m still trying to figure it all out!
I wish you all the best with your shop!! Love your jewelry!
